Villagers have made fun of an unintentionally rude drawing on a boot fair sign.

The notice caused a stir after appearing in Wingham, situated between Canterbury and Sandwich, advertising a jumble sale “with a kick”.

The drawing has been construed by some Wingham residents as looking like a rude image. Picture: Ray Long

Some residents claim the child-like drawing, understood to resemble a boot, had a more phallic appearance.

The message on the board, written in orange chalk, states: “Country boot fair with a kick.

“Wingham Village Hall.

“Saturday, November 16. Starts at 11am. Free entry.”

Commenters on social media have quipped the picture looks more like genitalia than footwear.

One wrote: “Is it sponsored by Lovehoney?”

Another joked: “Perhaps it's a ‘specialist’ boot fair”, while someone else posted: “I never go to boot fairs, but may make an exception on this one.”

One commented: “Stand proud Wingham. I have a feeling this may go viral.”
