Man arrested after young child injured in assault in Sainsbury's in Kingsmead Road, Canterbury

A young child was left injured after allegedly being assaulted in a Sainsbury's car park.

A 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, which took place in Kingsmead Road, Canterbury on Wednesday, May 8.

It is understood a verbal altercation also took place between a man and a woman who were also there, at about 3.20pm.

The man, from Canterbury, was arrested the day after the incident and has been released on bail until May 22.

Police are appealing for information from any witnesses who may have been near the supermarket at the time.

They have refused to say if the victim is a boy or a girl.
