Thoughtless drivers are being blamed for turning a lay-by off the A2 into a rubbish dump.
These shocking pictures show the state of the slip-road near Kent Motorcyclists at Barham, where truckers often park up.
Brian Fox, 72, who lives at the nearby Ropersole Residential Park, says it is a disgrace and attracts rats.
The retired head of security for Johnson and Johnson said: “It is absolutely disgusting.
“Clearly, a lot of it is the rubbish that drivers are throwing out of their windows after parking up and even includes stuff like urine in bottles.
“I have been complaining about it for ages but while the contractor occasionally cleans the road, they don’t touch the hedgerows where most of this stuff ends up.
“From what I have managed to learn, there is a strip of land beside the lay-by which is the council’s responsibilty.
“It’s clearly not their fault that all this stuff is being dumped, but it urgently needs cleaning up.
“It seems quite a popular place for drivers and truckers to pull in, so maybe a few rubbish bins would help.”
City council spokesman Rob Davies said: “Serco has recently cleaned a number of the A2 laybys in the district, including the one near Kent Motorcycles.
“We are aware of a grotty area near to this, but it is private land that we are not responsible for. “However, as part of the national Clean for the Queen project, which we are taking part in, we are going to contact the landowner and see if we can get their permission to tackle this area.”
