Rehearsals have begun for this
year’s Marlowe pantomime, Peter Pan.

Writers and producers Paul Hendy
and Emily Wood have assembled a cast of old and new faces for this
year’s show, which will be performed on a rather different stage at
the Marlowe Theatre Arena. The first curtain call at the 1,200
capacity big blue tent is Saturday, December 5.

Ade Edmondson (pictured right) will be the
target of boos and hisses as villain Captain Hook, in what will be
the comedian’s first ever pantomime performance.

But, the former star of Holby City,
Bottom and The Young Ones is looking forward to getting into
character.

He said: “Hook is just a fantastic
part and Peter Pan is in my opinion one of the best pantos, it’s
got a kind of through line to the plot and the story that works
well on so many levels with all the characters.

“Captain Hook’s a character that
just has to be bad, but he’s also a very complex and interesting
person in the way he acts, there’s a lot of depth to
him.”

rehearsal pictures in this week's Kentish Gazette, out
Thursday.
