Police closed Lower Bridge Street, Canterbury, in both directions after a crash
A teenager knocked off his motorbike in Canterbury city centre is recovering at home today.
The 18-year-old biker was said to have suffered "life-changing" injuries when he was involved in a collision with a car at about 3.45pm yesterday.
The crash in Lower Bridge Street, near Canterbury Magistrates' Court. brought major routes through the city to a standstill during rush-hour.
Fearing the cyclist might die, Kent Police closed both carriageways to carry out an accident investigation.
But having been taken to the William Harvey Hospital, in Ashford, the teenager was released at 9.30pm and allowed home to recover.

Police reopened the road at 6.40pm.
An air ambulance had landed in St Augustine's Abbey, but the man was taken by land ambulance to hospital with injuries described as serious.
