POLICE searching for missing 81-year-old Faversham woman Anne Gregory have found a body.

They made the discovery in the Iron Wharf area of Faversham shortly after 10am on Friday.

The body is yet to be formally identified but officers believe it is Mrs Gregory, a great-grandmother of Churchill Way, Faversham, who went missing last week.

She was last seen near the Co-op store in West Street.

An inquiry has started into the circumstances surrounding her death and a post mortem will be carried out early next week.

Since Mrs Gregory's disappearance last Saturday, police have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries and used a helicopter in the search.
