A teenage boy has been charged after a woman was stabbed in Canterbury city centre.

Police were called to Victoria Row shortly before 3am on Saturday, following a report of an assault.

A woman in her 20s had suffered a stab wound and was taken to a London hospital.

She has since been discharged.

Police have now confirmed a 16-year-old boy has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, using threatening or abusive words or behaviour, possession of cannabis, possession of a knife and affray.

The suspect, who is from the Whitstable area and cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Folkestone Magistrates' Court today.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on November 22.
