An eight-year-old boy remains in hospital in a serious condition after being struck by a car while playing on his scooter.
The accident happened in Queens Road, Aylesham, while he was crossing the street outside his home on Thursday afternoon.
An eyewitness, who described the collision as "very, very serious," said neighbours rushed to perform first aid on the youngster until paramedics reached the scene.
They spent around an hour attending to him until he was airlifted by helicopter to King's College Hospital in London, where he remains in a "serious but stable" condition.
The accident, which happened at around 5.45pm, sparked a large response from emergency services and led to the residential street being closed for several hours while police carried out investigations.
Another neighbour, who also wanted to remain anonymous, told Kent Online: "He had just come down the road in his scooter. It's very sad."
Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit say that a silver Nissan Qashqai was involved in the accident, and would like to hear from people who were in the area at the time of the collision.
They would also like to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage, and the driver of a red estate car which was reported to be travelling along the road at the time.
