AN ELDERLY man has been sprayed in the face and robbed by a burglar in his bedroom.

The 81-year-old victim discovered the intruder in his house in Court Hill, Littlebourne, near Canterbury, at about 6.45pm on Tuesday.

The burglar demanded money and then squirted a substance at the pensioner when he refused. He later discovered £100 was missing from his wallet.

The victim complained the spray had made his eyes sting but he refused hospital treatment and is understood not to have suffered any lasting damage.
