Part of a busy street has been closed this afternoon after a 3ft long hole opened up in the middle of the road.
A section of Sea Street in Herne Bay near the Jewson building yard is cordoned off while highways engineers work to fix it.
Kent Highways were called at about 4pm to reports of "a partial collapse" in the road.
Police are also on the scene and traffic cones have been placed around the crater.
The hole is about 80cm deep and 40cm wide, but as much as four metres of the road will need to be repaired.
A diversion is expected to be put in place this evening.
The road is expected to be closed until further notice between the junctions with Hampton Pier Avenue and Greenhill Bridge Road
