A teenager who has beaten cancer three times has had her dream holiday wish come true.
Chloey Marshall, of Redwood Close in Canterbury, has been fundraising for a trip of a lifetime after battling acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
The 16-year-old is desperate to go to Majorca with her sister Kelly, 28, to experience what ‘normal’ youngsters do.
And the Canterbury High School pupil’s wish came true when she received an email from Sebastian Darder, chairman of Palmanova and Magaluf Hoteliers’ Association, saying he wanted to send her on an all-inclusive holiday.
He said: “We have read the Chloey’s Dream Holiday Wish and we offer two weeks at an all-inclusive hotel in Magaluf for four people when Chloey has recovered.”
Her mum Natalie says it is the perfect start to the year.
“Chloey got an email saying she could go on holiday – it’s made her new year,” she said.
“She’s going with her sister, her brother Bradley and his girlfriend.
“I’m so glad her brother’s going. He was left on his own for months and months while Chloey was in hospital.”
Miss Marshall, 47, says the money raised through kind donations on a Just Giving page set up by Chloey – including £100 from Jessica Wright, star of ITV’s The Only Way is Essex – will be used for spending money and flights.
Chloey has also been raising funds to send her whole family, including her mother, on a smaller trip somewhere in the UK, to say thank you for all their support.
Miss Marshall said: “A woman from a charity called Taylor Made Dreams is giving us a caravan holiday in West Sussex for a week for eight people.
“She came to see Chloey and wanted to do something for her. She’s also going to have a photoshoot and go to a show in London.”
Taylor Made Dreams is a charity helping children with life-limiting and serious illnesses achieve their dreams.
“This is going to be Chloey’s year... she deserves it after all she’s been through” - Natalie Marshall
Chloey was 10 when she was first diagnosed with cancer and despite treatment has relapsed.
In 2015, just before Christmas, she and her family were dealt the blow that she was seriously ill again.
At the end of last year, however, after more treatment and an operation on her lung, she was given the all clear but has bone marrow tests once a month to monitor her health.
It is hoped she can go back to school later this year once she is fully recovered.
Miss Marshall added: “This is going to be Chloey’s year. She deserves it after all she’s been through.”
