Free Tibet activists in Canterbury are planning a candle-lit vigil to mark the start of the Olympic Games in Beijing.
While the eyes of the sporting world fall on China, members of Tibet In Canterbury will light a candle with millions around the world.
The group will follow up their silent vigil back in April by staging the protest in the city, just hours before the Games opening ceremony.
From 9.15pm on Thursday, August 7, members of the public are invited to join the Candle for Tibet Light Protest outside the Beaney Institute until 10pm.
At least 100 million people worldwide are anticipated to join the campaign in support of freedom for the people of Tibet.
Those wishing to join in are asked to bring a candle in a jam jar and any Tibetan flags, scarves or banners they might have.
