An impressive array of silverware from last season’s successes greeted more than 200 players, officials and supporters who attended Canterbury City Football Club’s presentation night at the Westgate Hall on Friday.

Pride of place was the huge shield won by the men’s first team, who gained promotion to the Kent County League Premier Division but chairman Phil Knight stressed that, while the senior side were the focal point, the essence of the club was its belief in "community."

The first team’s Royston Gough was voted Supporters’ Player of the Year after another remarkable season in which he stayed loyal to the club despite a number of attractive offers to play for semi-professional clubs.

The Players’ Player of the Year was Ian Hossick and Jamie Brockman was named Development Player of the Year.

The women’s Player of the Year was goalkeeper Sarah Hardy, who received her award from the Archdeacon of Canterbury, Sheila Watson.

Dean Brockman was not only Under 18 Player of the Year but also won the Tony Searle Youth Player of the Year. The Chairman’s Award was given to Mick Santer (pictured).
