Canterbury city councillor Martin Fisher in court on child sex offences

A Canterbury city councillor has appeared in court charged with a series of child sex offences.

Conservative Martin Fisher was remanded in custody following an appearance at Canterbury Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon.

Fisher, who represents the Tankerton ward, is charged with indecent assault, sexual touching and making and possessing indecent images of children.

The 60-year-old, from Queens Road, Whitstable, was arrested at his home on Thursday, April 8. A police investigation was launched against him on March 1.

Fisher is yet to enter a plea to the charges.

He was refused bail and has been remanded in custody until Thursday, May 13, where he will appear at Canterbury Magistrates Court.
