Members of the Canterbury Rhythmic Gymnastics Club who a clutch of gold medals in the Canterbury Cup, they hosted at St Anselms School on Sunday

RHYTHMIC gymnasts from across the UK converged on Canterbury at the weekend for the annual Canterbury Cup, but it was the host club that emerged with the gold medals.

City of Canterbury Rhythmic Gymnastics Club members Molly Alston (novice under-12), Chloe Picton (intermediate under-11), Keziah Gore (National Junior) and Hulda Svavarsdottir (National Senior) won overall golds.

Alisha May (intermediate under-12), Jessica Phillips (intermediate under-nine) and Emily Erskine (novice under-12) also won medals while Jomana Fahmy was rewarded as the best performer of the day.

Abbie Wyver and Alice Scharmeli won medals in the under-10s, Emma Griffin, Robyn Bate and Jael Gore did likewise in the under-12s and Hekla Svavarsdottir medalled in the seniors.

The city gymnasts are now gearing-up for the British Championships at the end of the month.
