Canterbury Hockey Club missed out on a place in the super sixes National Indoor Hockey Premier Division Championship finals at Wembley later this month after both teams failed to qualify at the weekend.
EuroCanterbury Ladies travelled to Worcester defending an unbeaten record form the first weekend last month, and started well by beating Reading 4-3, only to lose their remaining three games, against Slough, Bowdon Hightown and Leicester. They eventually finished sixth, finishing level on points with Reading and Sutton Coldfield, but with an inferior goal difference.
The men began in fifth place at the University of West England at Frenchay near Bristol, and drew their opening game, 5-5 against Loughborough Students
However two defeats, 11-4 against East Grinstead and 6-2 against Reading, dented their chances of making progress, despite winning their final game 9-4 against St Albans. They stayed fifth, four points behind fourth-placed Old Loughtonians.
The two clubs resume their respective outdoor seasons next month.
