Canterbury men’s player-coach Kwan Browne insists he is confident his side can complete a historic season by sealing a place in the National Premier Division play-offs.

The city club’s must-win game at top-four rivals Cannock on Sunday was postponed due to snow and will now take place at 2pm on Saturday.

The delay has caused some disruption for the club and Browne said: "We would much rather have not been waiting the extra week.

"We were supposed to have this weekend off and a lot of the guys had made plans to go away. Easter weekend and Christmas are the two breaks we get in the season, stretching back to July.

"We were looking forward to some time off but pretty much everyone has been able to make alternative arrangements."

Fourth-placed Canterbury need victory at sixth-placed Cannock to guarantee their top-four spot and Browne (pictured) said: "We are definitely going there to win.

"With all our important games over the years, when we need a result we go there looking to be positive and it’s generally worked well for us.

"I am confident but I want the guys to play with confidence and freedom which have got us into this position.

"It’s probably one of the biggest games the club will ever play but I won’t be reminding them of that.

"The only message I’ll be giving them is to tell them that I know there is no place on earth they would rather be than right there, playing in that game for Canterbury Hockey Club."
