Kwan Browne is aiming to lead Canterbury to the finals day of the Maxifuel Super Sixes Indoor Hockey Championships, which get under way this weekend.
The men travel to the FA’s new St George’s Park HQ at Burton for the opening round this weekend and the player-coach said: "We are not quite as strong this year but with the Olympics, we’re not sure quite what the level will be.
"We should be able to make a proper assessment after the first weekend but we would certainly like to get into that top four.
"It would be a brilliant achievement to make it through to finals day, it’s always a fantastic occasion.
"We have got some young players in the squad, three or four of them have not played indoors."
Canterbury begin against East Grinstead and Loughborough on Saturday before facing Bowdon and Reading on Sunday. They face games against Beeston, Doncaster, Old Loughtonians and Surbiton in the second round of games back at Burton on January 5 and 6.
The top four teams will qualify for the finals at Wembley on January 27 while the bottom two are relegated to Division 1.
The club’s ladies, who missed out on finals day by a point last year, begin against Slough and Reading at Bromsgrove School on Saturday before facing Olton & West Warwicks and Clifton on Sunday.
They then face Sutton Coldfield, University of Birmingham, Leicester and Bowdown Hightown in round two on January 5 and 6.
