Polo Farm was awash with goals over the weekend as Canterbury’s men and women both notched up impressive wins.
On Saturday, the women beat Clifton 4-2 to preserve their unbeaten record at the top of the Investec Women’s Hockey League Premier Division.
An own goal set the ball rolling before Eliza Brett and Sarah Kerly struck to put Canterbury 3-0 up. Clifton pulled one back but Lisa Hapke secured the result before the visitors netted a consolation.
Meanwhile, David Mathews scored twice in a 6-1 win over Hampstead & Westminster as Canterbury’s men kept up the heat on Men’s Hockey League, Premier Division leaders Beeston.
Also on target in Sunday’s win were Ross Gilham-Jones, Liam Foster, Nathaniel Joy and Isaac O’Connor. Only goal difference keeps Canterbury off top spot, although Beeston do have a game in hand.
