Canterbury Hockey Club teams notch wins at indoor tournaments

Canterbury Hockey Club men's team made a strong start to their Premier Division campaign in the Maxifuel Super Sixes Indoor Championship at Loughborough University.

Canterbury won three of their four matches to finish the weekend in second place in the table, one point behind leaders East Grinstead.

On Saturday they crushed Sevenoaks 13-3, with Ben Allberry scoring four goals, and then on Sunday achieved 4-3 victories against Reading and Harleston Magpies.

Canterbury's only defeat came in their opening game when they lost 3-2 to Old Loughtonians.

EuroCanterbury Ladies opened their Premier Division indoor campaign at Bristol with two wins, a draw and a defeat. On Saturday they beat Sutton Coldfield 5-0 before losing 2-1 to Reading.

Then on Sunday Canterbury drew 5-5 with Leicester and defeated Harleston Magpies 5-0 to lie in fourth place in the table. Susie Rowe scored 10 goals in Canterbury's four games.

Both competitions resume on the weekend of January 7/8.
