Canterbury maintained their hopes of claiming a play-off place after beating Clifton Ladies 2-1 at Polo Farm on Saturday.

Natasha Brennan handed Canterbury a 12th minute lead in the Women’s Premier Division clash but just six minutes later Carys Hopkins levelled things up for struggling Clifton.

After two games without a win Canterbury got maximum points once more after a penalty corner from Jenny Hall sealed a 2-1 victory.

Canterbury sit fourth, well adrift of the top three, but top of the pile with a handful of clubs chasing a play-off spot.

Canterbury men are joint top of the Men’s Conference East and enjoyed a 5-3 win over Harleston Magpies.

Kwan Browne scored a hat-trick in the match and opened the scoring after just three minutes from a penalty corner.

Harleston levelled but it was 2-1 to Canterbury at the break thanks to Matthew Bunyan’s goal.

Another goal for Harleston made it 2-2 but Browne restored the lead with a penalty stroke and he then scored the team’s fourth. Harleston netted again but the Canterbury scored a fifth through Michael Farrer.
