Canterbury Ladies are top of the England Hockey League Women’s Premier Division after a 3-1 win over Bowdon in Manchester on Saturday.
They replaced Leicester, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Olton & West Warwicks.
In an eventful first half, Canterbury came from behind to win with three goals in 21 minutes. Susie Rowe, pictured, scored twice and Lucy Hyams got the other.
Fay Nash put the home side ahead after eight minutes, Rowe equalised five minutes later, Hyams made it 2-1 after 23 minutes, and Rowe added her second a minute before half-time.
Canterbury Men, meanwhile, slipped to joint bottom of the English Hockey League Premier Division after a 3-2 home defeat against Bowdon at Polo Farm.
They are one of three clubs on four points, Reading and Cannock are the others.
Michael Hoare put the visitors ahead after 31 minutes, Ross Gilham-Jones levelled the scores a minute before half-time but Bowdon added two more through Tim Gilbert and James Adgey, before Michael Farrer got Canterbury’s second four minutes from time.
