A Canterbury man has been arrested on suspicion of being in one of Europe's top criminal gangs.

The 43-year-old was arrested on Tuesday morning before being taken into custody and quizzed.

A 69-year-old from Westerham was also among the nine men and two women arrested as part of a joint operation between officers in Kent, the West Midlands and Thames Valley.

The gang is said to be responsible for masterminding an international drugs, guns and money laundering crime empire.

There have been 32 arrests in total.

It follows a series of raids were made across Europe involving 750 police officers.
