Forward power propelled unbeaten Canterbury to a 36-6 victory at London Irish Amateur on Saturday which saw their lead at the top of National 3 London and South East grow to 18 points.
With two of the chasing group, Tonbridge Juddians and Dorking, suffering surprise defeats the city club, led by head coach Andy Pratt (pictured), took another decisive step towards the league title with a six-try success which was built around their dominance in the pack.
Five of their tries, including a first-half penalty try, came from the forwards with back row trio Peter Kelly (2), George Micans and Wim Baars all getting on the scoresheet.
The other touchdown was provided by full back Martyn Beaumont following a neat half break by hooker Sam Rogers.
This Saturday, Canterbury are at home to Westcliff who lost 39-15 to Ampthill at the weekend, a victory that moved the Bedfordshire club into second place in the table, above TJs who lost 45-31 at home to Bishop’s Stortford.
