A penalty from the last kick of the match by Tom Best earned Canterbury a 30-30 draw at Dings Crusaders on Saturday - and three badly-needed points in National League 2 South.
Yet after the opening 25 minutes Canterbury had looked set to secure their first win in four matches. They scored 15 unanswered points through tries from Rob Keir and Peter Kelly, plus a conversion and penalty from Best.
But they suffered a disastrous 10-minute spell either side of half-time that saw the Bristol side surge into a 24-15 lead.
However, Canterbury full-back Gert De Kock gave the visitors fresh hope with their third try, and although Dings then added two more penalties, Canterbury produced a surging finale to level the scores through a second try by De Kock and a conversion and penalty from Best.
