Two tries in three second-half minutes helped condemn Canterbury to a 24-5 defeat at home to title-chasing Ealing in National 2 South on Saturday.
Canterbury might have taken the lead long before Ealing went 3-0 up through a 14th-minute penalty, Mike Melford going close to a try and Phil Gibson missing a kickable penalty for Danny Vaughan's (pictured) side.
The visitors added a converted try for a 10-0 lead near the end of the first half before Gibson sent another penalty attempt wide.
Four minutes after the restart Gibson missed a third chance to put the city club on the board and the visitors took advantage with two further scores.
Melford scored a consolation try for Canterbury in the final minute, bursting through and twice recovering his own kicks forward before touching down out wide, as they stayed sixth in the table.
