EuroCanterbury Ladies lost their grip at the top of the Women’s Premier Division following a home defeat to title rivals Leicester on Saturday.

A 1-0 defeat saw Leicester leapfrog them at the top of the table, sitting ahead of them now by a single point, but with the luxury of a game in hand.

Crista Cullen’s 33rd minute penalty corner was the difference between the sides.

Canterbury men were also beaten and their battle for survival in the Men’s Premier Division now looks like an even bigger task.

The men’s 1st team are four points adrift at the bottom of the table following a 4-1 defeat at third-placed Surbiton.

Canterbury were four goals down before Ross Gilham-Jones pulled one back with a 59th minute penalty corner.

The defeat extended Canterbury’s winless streak to six games.
