A person had to be cut free from their car following an accident on the A28 Sturry Road on Saturday morning.

The stretch was shut in both directions around Vauxhall Road and Stour Crescent, forcing the Sturry Road Park and Ride to be blocked.

The two car crash happened at around 8.30am.

Firefighters were called to rescue one injured driver, who was taken to hospital. It is not known how many people were hurt in the accident.

The road reopened at around 10.25am.
