A driver crashed into the back of a bus after being blinded by sunlight in Margate Road in Herne Bay.
The accident caused traffic delays near the Blacksole Birdge after the collision this morning, but there were no reported injuries to bus passengers or either driver.
Police spokeswoman Lisa Humphrys said: “We were called to the incident at 8.32am. It appears that the car driver was blinded by the sun and ran into the back of the bus.
“Insurance details were exchanged between the drivers of each vehicle but the car driver then left his blue Suzuki in the live lane to await recovery, which caused an obstruction.
“The bus driver said he wasn’t injured, but caught a bus to hospital as a precaution. So his bus also caused an obstruction.”
Jason Onion, who saw the aftermath, said: “As far as I could see the car crashed into the back of the bus and went off the road into the grass verge.
“The road there has a bad reputation for accidents. It is poorly lit with cars coming off the Thanet Way too fast.
“But putting in speed bumps or speed cameras would be costly and affect entry of emergency vehicles.”
In January Gazette readers said that safety on the Blacksole Bridge and surrounding roads should be improved, as pedestrians have to walk in the road.
Mr Onion added: “Any solutions will be difficult. But first and foremost we should look after pedestrians as they are the ones walking there without pavements.”
