Firefighters had to winch a car from a block of flats in Canterbury after it crashed into the building early this morning.
Crews were sent to Cold Harbour at the junction of Kingsmead Road and Tourtel Road along Sturry Road at 2.30am.
When the two engines arrived at the scene, the car, which was occupied by a man and woman, was alight. Residents were told to stay indoors as firefighters tackled the blaze.
The car was wedged so tightly into the building that a specialist winch had to be brought in.
Firefighters clambered over the car in order to clear the smoke that had filled the building and ventilate the area.
Once the car had been dragged away from the property’s front entrance the residents, which included two men, a woman and a girl were able to escape. They sustained no injuries.
One of the people in the car was taken to hospital to receive treatment for their injuries.
Building control specialists were also sent to the scene to inspect damage to the property and ensure it was still safe.
