A car crashed into the side of a van in Fleetwood Avenue in Herne Bay during the morning school run, causing traffic tailbacks around the station and in Sea Street.

Rachel Hollands, 29, was driving through the area on the way to visit a friend. She said: “A black car had somehow collided into the side of the van. Police were there to signal traffic through as there was a build-up of traffic in the area and in Sea Street.”

Police spokesman Jon Green said that they were called to the collision just after 8.30am. He added: “One of the vehicles had to be recovered, and the road was cleared by 10.18am.”
