The drummer with legendary Canterbury group Caravan has taken over The Cricketers pub in the city.

Richard Coughlan has returned to his roots with wife Sue, who attended Simon Langton School.

They previously ran the Sun Inn on West Street, Faversham, where they won a string of awards, most recently Shepherd Neame’s outstanding achievement award for setting up the hotel at the pub.

The Cricketers already has a reputation for music but Sue and Richard plan to introduce food.

The pair’s first goal, however, will be to get the pub into the Good Beer Guide.
