City's rugger men star for county

THE Kent rugby side raced to an opening 29-10 county championship victory over Dorset and Wilts at Beckenham on Saturday.

Captain Andy Pratt, of Canterbury, leading Kent for a second season, quickly made his mark by scoring his side's opening try but it was city club colleague Sean Pilcher who ended as top points scorer.

Pilcher, making his senior county debut together with Dan Weigh and Nicky Woodbridge, kicked three penalty goals and a conversion before ending the match with a long range drop goal in the last minute.

Former Canterbury back row player Ken Aseme, now with Blackheath, was also a member of the successful county side.

Kent travel to Norwich on Saturday to meet Eastern Counties and return to Beckenham on May 8 for a final Pool match against Buckinghamshire.
