Kent's biggest theatre has announced an impressive line-up of new shows - including a classic Disney musical.
An adaptation of the classic film Bedknobs and Broomsticks will be coming to Canterbury's Marlowe Theatre in 2021.
The August run is part of an exciting programme of shows set to take to the stage next year.
With social distancing rules expected to be in place in the early part of 2021, shows announced up until May will be performed to audiences in the theatre’s specially-adapted auditorium.
First up, children’s TV legend and past Marlowe panto star Mister Maker brings a special one-off show to The Marlowe Studio on February 18.
Then stand-up fans are in for a treat as the venue hosts four nights of comedy.
Michael Spicer, who has became an internet sensation for creating The Room Next Door sketches, brings an exclusive show to Canterbury on March 5.
The theatre’s specially curated comedy nights are also set to return, with the Alternative Comedy Show on April 21 and Live At The Marlowe on May 1. More details on the line-ups for both shows will be announced soon.
The laughter will continue with The Thinking Drinkers on April 29 as they bring a comedy quiz night to the venue.
All of these productions will be performed to a socially-distanced audience, meaning there will be fewer people in the auditorium than normal.
But it is expected that for shows announced for the summer, The Marlowe will have returned to presenting shows to a full auditorium.
The cult classic The Rocky Horror Show will bring "fun, naughtiness and plenty of pelvic thrusts" to Canterbury between July 26 and 31.
The magical new musical version of Disney’s classic movie Bedknobs and Broomsticks comes to The Marlowe between August 24 and 29.
Songs by the legendary Sherman Brothers - whose film scores include Mary Poppins and The Jungle Book - will feature, including Portobello Road, The Age of Not Believing and The Beautiful Briny.
Bedknobs and Broomsticks will be brought to life by award-winning theatre-makers Jamie Harrison (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and Candice Edmunds.
Joining these two productions are one-night performances by some of the country’s most loved performers.
Sandi Toksvig brings her new live show on June 13 - with stories, funny facts, silly jokes, a quick fire Q&A and a quiz.
The comedy continues on June 20 when Sarah Millican debuts - what she describes as - a "Bobby Dazzler" of a show.
Perfect for ballroom dance fans, Strictly Presents: The Power Of Dance arrives on July 11.
A brand-new show from the Strictly Come Dancing family, it features dancers Janette Manrara, Dianne Buswell, Amy Dowden and Neil Jones, together with two special guest stars who will be announced soon.
There is also live music on August 30 with What’s Love Got To With It?, a show celebrating the music of Tina Turner, whilst Lost In Music recreates the greatest hits from the golden ago of disco on September 2.
