Kwan Browne made an immediate impact on his return to Canterbury with two goals in the 4-0 thrashing of county rivals Holcombe.
The player-coach was joined on the scoresheet by Matt Harper, who scored the first and final goal in the win, as Canterbury opened their Men’s Conference East challenge in impressive fashion.
Harper’s opening strike came after 22 minutes at Polo Farm and the lead was doubled with a penalty corner conversion from Browne.
A second successful penalty corner from Browne after 48 minutes made it 3-0 and Harper wrapped up the win with a 66th minute goal.
Canterbury Women endured a tough opening start to their Women’s Premier Division campaign at Leicester.
Hosts Leicester won the game 2-0 with both goals coming in the opening half.
