Kent County Cricket Club chairman George Kennedy has warned the current financial climate is delaying the redevelopment of their St Lawrence ground.

Mr Kennedy, who predicts the county's financial results in the New Year will be disappointing, has stated that the club is now seeking new offers from companies to develop work on the Bat and Ball and net site.

He said: "The main builder (Persimmon) who had been successful in tendering for the work on the Bat and Ball and net site has run into financial difficulties and is currently unable to go ahead under the terms previously agreed.

“The committee is presently seeking new offers from several companies and negotiations are progressing well.

"The hotel project is more promising, and recent reductions in interest rates will, it is hoped, help our partner be ready to move forward when we resolve the housing sites.”
