Crews were called to tackle a blaze after reports of a ground floor kitchen fire in a student accommodation block near the University of Kent.

Two fire engines attended the scene in St Stephen's Hill at 4.05pm yesterday.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Firefighters left the property close to 4.30pm.
