Firefighters spent almost five hours tackling a huge log blaze at a quarry near Faversham.

Crews were called to Winterbourne Wood Quarry in Dunkirk just before 10pm yesterday, where a large pile of logs was alight.

Faversham crews were joined by firefighters from Canterbury fire station, and a specialist water carrier was brought over from Ashford to help them douse the blaze.

It was out by 3am and crews left the scene. It is not yet known what caused the fire.
