FLOODLIGHT cricket comes to Canterbury on Wednesday with the crucial National League clash between David Fulton’s Spitfires and the star-studded Surrey Lions.
Kent, who boast a 100 per cent win record in day-night cricket, go into the clash knowing a victory over the league leaders and title favourites is almost essential if they are to avoid the drop into Division 2 for the first time.
Spitfires gave Surrey a great run for their money in the corresponding fixture at the Oval back in May where Ed Smith’s excellent 99 and an unbeaten 80 from Matt Walker almost inspired the side to a dramatic run-chase win.
After seeing The Lions post 322 for seven, Kent blasted 316 to lose by just six runs – a similar performance this time around may well blow the St Lawrence fuses.
The match will start at 4.20pm with a scheduled finish at 10.20pm. The floodlights, together with the presence of Sky Sports cameras, means there will be restricted parking at the ground that evening, but there will be overflow facilities available at Simon Langton School.
But to avoid congestion club officials are recommending supporters get to the ground as early as possible.
