A cyclist has been airlifted to a London hospital with serious injuries after colliding with a van this morning.
The man, who is in his 60s, was hurt in the crash in Station Road, Chartham, at about 7.45am.
His bicycle collided with a Vauxhall Astra van - which was left with a shattered windscreen - opposite the playing fields.
Steve Jordan, who lives in nearby Bakers Lane, called 999.
He said: "I was walking to the station when I heard the van driver shouting 'help me, help me'.
"I called the ambulance and they were here so quickly. They were brilliant.
"Then the air ambulance landed on the field and they took over.
"I'm just hoping the cyclist is all right."
The air ambulance landed on the playing fields and flew the injured man to the capital.
Police closed the road between The Green and Church Lane while serious crash investigators examined the site.
