A BRAIN-DAMAGED accident victim has been awarded a six-figure sum in damages following a car crash four years ago.

Christopher Sole, 22, of Wincheap, Canterbury was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his friend, Kate Hardman.

She died when her vehicle collided with another in Hardres Court Road, Lower Hardres, near canterbury in March, 2000.

Mr Sole, who was 17 at the time, was travelling in the back of the vehicle and suffered head injuries.

His mother, Julie Sole, sued the estate of Miss Hardman, which resulted in the agreed settlement in London's High Court.

Giles Eyre, for the Soles, told Mrs Justice Dobbs that it had never been disputed that Miss Hardman had lost control of her car as a result of her negligence.

Her vehicle crossed over onto the wrong side of the road and collided with an oncoming car.

Mr Eyre said: "Mr Sole has made a good recovery but was left with significant cognitive and behavioural difficulties, resulting in some disinihibition on his part and aggressive and unpredictable behaviour."

He added that Mr Sole lived independently but needed carers to prompt him into doing everyday tasks.
