Disney store at Whitefriars, Canterbury, closes on July 31

A Disney store is closing almost a year after it first opened.

The shop, at the Whitefriars shopping centre in Canterbury, will serve its last customers next Wednesday, July 31.

The pop-up outlet was only meant to be temporary and was first expected to shut last Christmas.

However, it was revealed today that it could re-open later.

A member of management told KentOnline: "This is a lease issue so we might come back but I can't say when."

The manager declined to say what exactly the lease issue was.

The shop first opened last August 15, creating 16 jobs.

It had at first only been leased until Christmas with Disney due to decide on its future based on its performance.

The store's staff are called cast members and it sells merchandise such as Star Wars action figures, Mickey Mouse cuddly toys and dresses from the film Frozen.
