This was the scene in the night sky above Chartham on Tuesday night.

Much of east Kent was subjected to heavy downpours accompanied by lightning and thunder.

Kentish Gazette reader Phil Rogers was out with his camera and took this photograph of the weather.

He said: "The bolt of lightning on the right is believed to have knocked the power out."

The weather for the Thursday and Friday of this week over east Kent is forecast to be more stable than earlier in the week with the downpours on Tuesday and Wednesday.
