Emergency services were scrambled after a blood donation van crashed and flipped onto its side.

Police, fire and ambulance crews descended on Military Road in Canterbury following the one-vehicle accident.

Crews freed one individual and passed them into the care of medics.

A fire and rescue spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 10.03am today (2 May) to assist SECAmb in Military Road, Canterbury, following reports of a crash involving one vehicle.

“Three fire engines attended, and crews released one person from the van, who was passed into the care of paramedics”

A police spokesperson added: “Kent Police was called to a report of an overturned vehicle in Canterbury, near to the roundabout where Military Road meets Tourtel Road, at 10.04am on Thursday 2 May.

“Officers attended, along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service, and worked to clear the road and recover the vehicle.”

The ambulance service has been contacted for comment.
