Boniface Kimaita caught drug dealing in Canterbury has been jailed for four years

A drug dealer caught with a stash of heroin and cocaine wraps told police he found them while walking his dog.

Boniface Kimaita, 24, claimed he was going to hand in the 66 small packages before he was arrested in the Spring Lane area of Canterbury.

He was taken into custody, where a search revealed he was also carrying £600 cash.

Kimaita claimed he had discovered the class A drugs while walking his girlfriend’s dog.

But analysis of his mobile phone showed he had exchanged texts with a woman who had asked for "one of each" and that she would "have the money for it".

Kimaita, of Westbury Road in Barking, Essex, denied possessing crack cocaine and heroin with intent to supply but was found guilty following a trial at Canterbury Crown Court.

He was sentenced yesterday.

Investigating officer DS Clive Horne said: "This is a positive result that has taken another drug-dealer off the streets and reinforces our commitment to tackling the supply of illegal substances in Canterbury and elsewhere.

"Boniface Kimaita invented a fanciful story about how he came to be in possession of the drugs, which thankfully the jury saw straight through.

"Hopefully he will think twice before getting involved in this harmful trade again in the future."
