A drunk man who tried to hit a policeman at a train station before being found in possession of drugs has been jailed.
Liam Jones, 21, approached British Transport Police officers while drunk at Canterbury East station.
The aggressive Sittingbourne resident was restrained after he tried goading one of the officers and attempted to hit one.
When searched, Jones, of Shakespeare Road, was found to be carrying a quantity of Class B amphetamine drugs.
Jones admitted charges of being drunk and disorderly and being in possession of drugs at North Kent Magistrates' Court on September 12.
He was handed a 56-day prison sentence, ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge totalling £200 following the incident in March this year.
Sgt David Parratt said: “Jones' violent behaviour, including attempting to attack BTP officers who were on patrol, was disgraceful.
"We will never tolerate this level of violence, I am pleased that the court handed Jones a custodial sentence.”
