Music star Labrinth stunned fans at a university summer ball after launching himself off stage and knocking dozens of students to a concrete floor.

The singer – whose hits include Earthquake – created his own tremors as a section of the 4,000-strong crowd toppled to the concrete ground in a domino effect at the University of Kent.

The calamitous stage jump was caught on camera by student Nasser Naoum, 19, who was enjoying the £37-a-ticket event in Giles Lane car park in Canterbury.

He said: “It was definitely unexpected.

“He kept asking everyone to put their hands up in the air, but none of us knew it was actually because he expected us to catch him - we just thought it was for dancing purposes.

“Then, like dominoes, at least 50 people fell down one after the other. He literally caused an earthquake he predicted himself.”

It is not thought anybody was seriously hurt in the jump, which happened between 1am and 2am.

The singer, who was the headline act, got back on stage and finished his set.

Chad Greggor, 19, said: “Labrinth just jumped into the crowd. I think he did it quite suddenly because people seemed surprised, not that artists normally give a pre-warning with stage diving, it just seemed that no one was prepared.

“He completely disappeared from view, and I was behind the barriers so I had a pretty good vantage point. I think he just fell to the floor.

“It sounded like he was struggling slightly towards the end.

"After what seemed like quite a while he was pulled back over the barriers by the bouncers.

"We noticed that he tied his shoelaces and removed his glasses before going into the crowd, which I think is evidence that he was planning on doing a stage dive.”
