Man taken to hospital following crash on A2050 Church Road in Canterbury

A major route had to be closed following a car crash which required a person to be cut from their vehicle.

Queues built up on the A2050 Church Road in Canterbury and the road was closed for traffic heading in the direction of the A2.

The crash involving two cars happened at about 8.10 this morning between Palmars Cross Hill and the A2 (Harbledown).

Emergency services were on the scene, but police say no serious injueries were sustained.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at around 8am on Thursday 25 May 2023 following a collision involving two cars on the A2070 at Harbledown.

“Officers attended and a road closure was in place until around 10.30am.

“No serious injuries were reported.”

Two fire engines attended the scene near Faulkners Lane and used “specialist equipment to remove the roof a vehicle to help gain access to one person, who was passed into the care of SECAmb” a Kent Fire and Rescue spokesperson said.

SECAmb confimred the person was then taken to hosptial.

“SECAmb was called at approximately 8.10am today to reports of an road traffic collision on the A2050 Church Hill,” said a SECAmb spokesperson.

“Ambulance crews attended and one person was assessed and treated before being taken to William Harvey Hospital.”
