When the official England coach slowly made its way through the streets of an historic village, people were eager to see if the likes of Wayne Rooney and manager Gareth Southgate descended when it parked up.
But as the doors opened from the plush vehicle, it wasn't the multimillionaire players who came out but a group of pensioners on a day out to Chilham Castle.
It had turned out to be an eventful day for the members of the Bexley Civic Society who had been given the surprising treat of sitting in the same seats usually occupied by Rooney and co on their way to top games.
A bit like some of the national team's recent mishaps, the trip wasn't without a hiccup - the coach suffered a burst tyre on the way.
A witness said residents were "astonished" to see the coach arrive and then slowly climb up the very steep and narrow Taylor's Hill on its way to the castle, which is owned by the millionaire spread better and former Ukip donor Stuart Wheeler.
The vehicle is owned by Orpington-based Guideline Coaches that also provides the official coach for West Ham United.
