EuroCanterbury put a struggling first half behind them to beat bottom-of-the-table Cannock 9-3 in the Investec Hockey League Women’s Premier Division on Saturday.
The visitors – without a single point this season – belied their lowly position to go in 3-3 at the break. The hosts had led 3-1, thanks to Jen Wilson, Kirsty Chambers and Eliza Brett, but two Cannock goals in three minutes gave Canterbury coach Nick Clark plenty to ponder during the interval.
The home side showed their class in the second half, however, with Wilson completing her hat-trick and two goals each from Grace Balsdon and Lucy Hyams – both players scoring their braces in two-minute spells.
EuroCanterbury are fourth in the table with 27 points.
